Life in Southern Illinois- this was written directly after I lost half of my hearing on father's day 2014. I was devastated for weeks and would take long drives in the country after my steroid injections through my eardrum over the course of a month and a half. One day during a drive with the t-tops out, listening to the radio, I began to notice my hearing was trying to come back. I became very emotional and was screaming and crying simultaneously on a secluded back road. I stopped the car and called my wife in tears. I could actually hear real sounds transferring through my ear and into my brain. For weeks I had thought there was no hope.

This sparked the song but as it turns out I never fully got all of my hearing back but I will take whatever I get.

Anyway, the song is a montage of our small town life in beautiful southern Illinois and a mix of deadhead slang/visions from trips in our micro-bus from days gone by.

*dead rap* - Lost now on the country miles with Cassidy and I wish I had a rag-top Cadillac, with Annie in the back with her head in the roses and up comes Moses on a Quasar, but he didn't get far 'cause he ran into the Dark Star, Dupree's jellyroll blues and the blue suede shoes, brings me back to the US Blues and the middle of nowhere....
